Ethical frameworks will need to grapple with several questions:

Not all applications of neural technology are inherently exploitative. Used carefully, neural monitoring could genuinely improve safety, prevent accidents, and support worker well-being. For instance, in high-risk industries like mining or aviation, detecting fatigue could save lives.

The challenge is ensuring that benefits are not outweighed by risks. Safeguards could include:

  • Guaranteeing voluntary participation, with no penalties for refusal.

  • Treating neural data as strictly confidential and worker-owned.
